Oly (Olivia), Working pupil outside of term time, says she has totally changed her riding by being part of the team.
Working Pupils
Working alongside Denise training horses The Dressage Secret way offers students an excellent opportunity to learn how the rider’s biomechanics influence the dressage horse from one of the U.K’s leading Biomechanics specialist. If you are interested in learning an ethical, intelligent training system and seeing how this is applied to a variety of horses and riders at all levels, then you could have found your ideal learning opportunity!
The horses are Denise and Kieron’s own dressage/ event horses, plus a variety of horses on short or long term livery, horses staying for schooling / rehabilitation and a small selection of horses for sale.
Student Supervision Programme / Work Experience
We currently have place(s) available during February, April and from June 2013 onwards. As we are a small yard, it is only practical to take one student at a time. This ensures individual attention and our ability to tailor our training to your specific needs.
Your role would be to assist with yard duties, and although there may be opportunities for riding there will also be the more physical tasks involved in caring for horses, so it is essential that you are physically fit, and have experience with both handling horses and riding. In return we provide accommodation, food, plus a lesson and/or a practice ride for each full day you work. (You are welcome to watch Denise teach in the afternoons but this is not counted as work time). Students usually work 5 or 6 days/ half days per week. Some students also bring their own horse, for which grazing/stabling is provided at standard DIY rate.
Usually the minimum period is 2 weeks, and the maximum is open to negotiation. Please e mail enquiries via the website, or call me for a chat to discuss options.
