Level 1 Confidence Booster Series of Courses-  These are aimed at riders who would like to gain more confidence in some aspects of their riding. It is not just novice riders with their own horse who will get a huge amount out of these courses; more experienced riders who may have a single aspect of their riding (eg. Jumping or hacking) where they feel they would like to  be more confident will also benefit. The courses are designed to provide the right level of support and tuition  so that the rider goes home brimming with confidence in their new found skills. All the courses at this level are 2 days long and are held at a weekend, with arrival on the Friday evening.

COURSE INFORMATION

Hacking can give the rider so much pleasure, but for some the thought of the open spaces, traffic, and surprise encounters (from cows crossing the road to mountain bikers, umbrellas and other things seemingly designed to terrify your horse!) is enough to spoil that pleasure completely.

This course is designed to change that for you, and get you confidently partnering your horse in all sorts of situations. We will show you how to improve the security of your seat literally overnight, how to cope with spooking (and other undesirable equine traits!), controlling speed, nerves and generally learning how to become confident with whatever comes your way.

Traffic and road-work are optional, as we have access to private tracks directly from the yard. We also have access to miles of off road forest tracks, and any hacking can be done at your speed, in small groups, or as a single rider plus escort.  An initial lesson is done in the school, before going out onto the farm.

COURSE FORMAT

The timetable on this course begins at 8.15 on the Saturday morning with a theory session in the class room, which will ascertain your personal goals for the weekend, plus begin to deepen your understanding of your horse, and any problems you are currently having. This is followed by a private lesson, focusing on giving you a deeper seat (part of which will be videoed), and a short hack, then video feedback to finish the day.

Day two will also begin in the classroom for a brief theory session, followed by a longer hack or a  20 minute private lesson, again part videoed, plus a shorter hack directly afterwards. The course finishes at 5pm, after the video feedback and review of progress for the final session of the day.

N.B. On escorted hacks our aim is to support you in whatever way you need. We are happy to only walk or take you out with someone walking at the side of your horse if that's what will help you the most. Just ask for whatever will make it a pleasure for you!
